A Candy Apple Red 1967 Ford Mustang convertible is a classic that commands attention. When this beauty rolled into our Vancouver shop, it needed far more than a paint touch-up. Rust had crept into the panels, the body lines were uneven, and the wiring was dated and unreliable. This was more than a cosmetic job, it was a full-scale restoration that required precision, experience, and a deep respect for classic American muscle.
Assessing the Damage and Planning the Restoration

Every restoration starts with a thorough inspection. Our team identified several areas of concern:
Rust damage on multiple exterior panels
Faded and worn paint
Misaligned body panels
Outdated and brittle wiring throughout the car, including the engine harness
The goal was clear: restore the car to its original form while subtly improving performance and reliability without sacrificing its classic charm.
Exterior Bodywork and Rust Repair

We began with the body. The rusted areas were cut out and replaced with freshly fabricated metal sections. Panel alignment was carefully adjusted to restore the Mustang's iconic lines.
Once the structure was sound, we moved on to blocking and sanding. This step is essential to achieve a smooth surface that makes the final paint job pop. Our team spent hours refining every curve, ensuring the Candy Apple Red finish would shine evenly from every angle.
Repainting in Candy Apple Red

The choice of color was non-negotiable: Candy Apple Red. It’s bold, timeless, and exactly what a '67 convertible deserves. After a thorough prep, we applied a high-build primer, followed by a base coat and multiple layers of Candy Apple Red. A clear coat sealed the deal, giving the finish a deep, rich glow under natural light.
Complete Wiring Overhaul

The next challenge? Electrical. The original wiring system had seen better days. We stripped out the outdated harnesses and replaced them with a completely new wiring system. This included:
A brand-new engine wiring harness
Modern, clean wiring layout for improved reliability
New fuses and relays integrated with the original switches and gauges
Rewiring a classic car isn’t just about replacing wires. It’s about doing it in a way that maintains authenticity while enhancing functionality. That balance is where experience makes the difference.
Final Touches and Reassembly

With the paint cured and the electrical system upgraded, we began reassembly. Every bolt, clip, and panel was meticulously installed. New trim pieces were aligned, and the convertible top mechanism was restored for smooth operation.
What rolled out of the shop wasn’t just a repainted car—it was a revived icon. The customer got a car that looked stunning, ran reliably, and stayed true to its heritage.
